John T. Crawford Camp 43, SUVCW

144 Church Street

Indiana, PA 15701

Membership in the Sarah A. Crawford Auxiliary is open to any female descendents (through either line), not less than twelve years of age whose ancestors meet the same requirements mentioned above. It is open to wives, mothers, or widows of members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The initiation fee is $5.00, and annual dues are set at $10.00.

A John T. Crawford Camp member, in period military attire, shows the community that Civil War Veterans prevailed through harsh weather.

Both groups accept Associates, who have nearly the same rights and privileges as full members. This enables those without the necessary ancestry to still become active members in either organization. The initiation fee and dues are the same as that for regular members.

Juniors are also accepted ranging in age from 6 to 14. Although no fees or dues are required, an adult family member must belong in good standing to the group.

Drummer boys were very important to regiments during the Civil War.

The membership is open to anyone, regardless of race, color or creed, and regardless of where they are living at the present time. (Current members are spread from Northern Pennsylvania to as far south as Florida.)
